About

our beginnings, what we do, and where we are GOING..

Sports Pathway group is a social enterprise and the goal is to broaden the scope of our social enterprise by offering a diverse range of services aimed at providing enriching experiences, fostering upskilling opportunities, and, most importantly, creating enduring memories for individuals worldwide. As the largest youth football tournament in the UK, our ambition extends beyond geographical boundaries. We aim to have a lasting impact not only on the field of youth football but also as a global movement dedicated to shaping positive experiences and building skills that resonate throughout a lifetime. The Edinburgh Cup is more than just a tournament; it is a dynamic force committed to creating a lasting legacy of inspiration and empowerment on an international scale. The Important Part Here is where your contribution matters. With your support and our combined efforts, we can establish a partnership that not only mutually benefits both organisations but also makes a positive impact on both local and international fronts.

2013
Our Story Begins

Formed in 2013 as Progressive Sports Development (PSD) to deliver  multi sports sessions to local schools in East Lothian and within 2 years, we quickly became one of Scotland’s top coaching companies and linking with many sports clubs to create coaching curriculum, coach education, player development and create pathways for children within local schools to the club.

2014
THE SOCIAL GOAL

After 15 months of growth, we decided what path we wanted to take which was to support as many young people as possible during our journey and became a social enterprise (community interest company). This transformed PSD further and allowed us to grow further within the community.

2015
UK WINNER

After a short period being a social enterprise, we received a nomination for social enterprise of the year in which after many months of waiting we won and showed how far we had progressed in our short existence.

2016
PSD Rebrands

From 2016, PSD was rebranded as Sports Pathway Group (SPG) to coincide with the main 3 pillars of the organisation which are Event Management, Consultancy and Sports Coaching.

2017
Expanding our force

As the business grew and the addition of many full time staff, we provided our first social programme in 2017 delivering a back to work football coaching initiative which was focused at offering the opportunity to male or females adults to learn the basic of coaching with the opportunity to be employed by SPG after a 8 week programme, to this date we have 6 part staff that still support our initiatives.

2018
The Edinburgh Cup

In 2018, we launched our flagship event, The Edinburgh Cup which is held the first weekend in August during the Edinburgh Fringe festival which brings together teams from all over the world to Edinburgh to play the beautiful game in a fun, exciting and carnival atmosphere at various world class facilities in and around Edinburgh.
